Larry's Home
“I appreciate The Restoration Team and all the churches that they work with to help us. Walking on these cement slabs wasn’t fun at all, so it truly has been a blessing that there are people out there willing to help. Before TRT, we filled out numerous applications but never received any help, so I thank God for your organization to come in and assist us. Having our home restored has really brought back quality to our lives.” - Larry, valued TRT homeowner
Completed in September of 2020, Larry’s home was The Restoration Team’s 271st repair project.
Larry’s home flooded with eight inches of water during Hurricane Harvey. After being rescued by a highwater military truck, Larry spent time in a shelter before living with his daughter for several months. The waters stayed in his home for eight days, causing damage to all of his walls, floors, furniture, and appliances.
Larry and his son were able to repair most of the drywall themselves but needed some assistance with the rest of the repairs. Support from FEMA could only go so far and without flood insurance, Larry didn’t have very many options.
Together we were able to install flooring in the entire home, finish a few spots of drywall, replace toilets, and put in all new cabinets in the kitchen. All-in-all, this project cost $16,629.
