"You all fixed this home for me." - Ida comes home!
The Restoration Team finished Ida’s home in September 2020, our 273rd home repaired.
Hurricane Harvey hit fast and hard on Ida's house. The flood destroyed all she had, furniture, clothing, and personal belongings. As if the stress of rebuilding her home without flood insurance or FEMA contributions wasn't enough, Ida has also been going through cancer treatments throughout the whole process.
This has been a complete rebuild from top to bottom. We were able to replace the roof and stabilize the foundation. We removed all of the damaged drywall and took the home down to the studs to remediate the mold. Once the studs were open, we upgraded the electric and plumbing throughout the house before covering it up with new insulation and drywall. To finish off the home we installed new floors, trim, cabinets, appliances, and bathroom fixtures. We could not be more proud of the repairs. Seeing how happy Ida was made all the difference in the world!
Volunteers played a huge role in making this transformation possible. 112 volunteers spent 3,132 hours on Ida’s home. In total, the repairs cost $31,150.
Ida's cancer is now in remission and she and her family will continue to be in our prayers. It has been wonderful to work with her and we are so excited for all of the love and memories to be shared in her home for years to come.
