Watson Valve Explosion Response - Monday Update
Hi all,
Over the weekend we had over 90 volunteers from our community respond to the factory explosion in Spring Branch. We boarded up windows and installed tarps on at least 25 homes that had been impacted. We used 100 sheets of plywood in just a few hours on Saturday! The response from our area churches was overwhelming!
We were pleased to hear that Team Rubicon was going to be joining us with our continuing efforts. Team Rubicon served through Sunday and Monday to continue identifying neighbors in need and put volunteers to work. Because of our combined efforts Team Rubicon has demobilized out of the area and we have completed the assessment and assistance to those homes within our scope of work.
Our goal this weekend was to secure and stabilize the homes impacted by the explosion and protect from the water or potential vandalism. Moving forward we will continue to pray for those that were impacted and at this time The Restoration Team will be working with the Red Cross to identify potential needs of families. Because this is not a natural disaster the level of support we are able to provide is limited. Our expertise and scope of work limits our ability to work on homes that have structural damage. As needs rise, and we find out more of how we can engage in the recovery process we will keep everyone informed.
Thank to all those who have prayed for us, volunteered with us, and donated to our cause!
