#TRT100k Volunteer Spotlight: Jay

To celebrate reaching 100,000 volunteer hours, this week we will be highlighting some of the key volunteers that have helped us achieve this milestone. Today we would like to highlight Jay - an engineer who consistently serves with us on Saturdays. Jay has never been shy to tackle a difficult project and is always a good time on site.

A little about Jay:

How did you first get involved with The Restoration Team:

I volunteered with others from our church. We are all “handy”, willing and able, and it seemed like a good way to give back to the community.

Do you have a favorite project/client/experience that you remember while serving with The Restoration Team:

On one project, we discovered significant rot and settlement of the peer and beam elements. The team worked together to develop a solution which involved jacking the frame of the house up and replacing the perimeter beams. This was difficult and time-consuming, but everyone was fully invested in making it work. Ultimately we were successful due to team efforts.

What does this ministry mean to you? Why do you keep coming back to serve?

It gives me an opportunity to give back to the community. Helping others in need, and doing God’s work as long as I am able.

What would you tell someone looking to get involved with our ministry?

If you like working with your hands, helping others less fortunate, learning construction/repair skills, and sharing in fellowship with others who are similarly inspired, TRT is the place to be.

Thank you, Jay for your continued support and presence on our worksites. You have made such a difference to dozens of families in our community!
