Stewart’s Home
Welcome home, Stewart!
We at The Restoration Team are excited to close up Stewart’s house, one of our larger home repair projects of the past year. Stewart is an 80-year-old man who has lived in this home his entire life before disrepair became too much to handle. Disasters compounded with years of wear and tear have forced Stewart to live in a cramped single-wide trailer in his backyard for the past four years, waiting for a chance to live out his days in a safe, livable home.
A local congregation in Stewart’s Northeast Houston community brought this case to The Restoration Team and we knew we had to act fast. This has been a top to bottom home restoration complete with new siding, roof, framing, electric, plumbing, floors, insulation, walls, ceilings, cabinets, windows, doors, bathroom, and a wheelchair ramp. This is the first time the home has ever been insulated - and it was built in 1940! In total, 160 volunteers from all over the country spent 2,580 hours repairing and loving on Stewart’s home.
Upon completion of the home, a realtor friend of The Restoration Team estimated that the improvements accomplished at this house increased the home value by $100,000! Stewart plans to live in this home for the rest of his life, but the increase in property value is a generational blessing Stewart is now able to pass down to his children and grandchildren. Because of the repairs and support of the TRT family, Stewart’s family is able to have equity and generational wealth.
It has been a pleasure to work with Stewart, his family, and all of the incredible volunteers and supporters who made this project possible. We are not able to do what we do without the generosity of our TRT family.
We have more projects just like Stewart’s that could use your time and gifts. As a tax-deductible, 501c3 non-profit, every dollar you give will go straight into a home in desperate need of emergency home repair.
