#TRT100k Volunteer Spotlight: Dave

To celebrate reaching 100,000 volunteer hours, this week we will be highlighting some of the key volunteers that have helped us achieve this milestone. Today we would like to highlight Dave. Before he retired and joined our Weekday Crew, Dave traveled the world with Chevron, with stops in Canada, London, Angola, and Thailand. He now spends his retirement serving on our worksites.

A little about Dave’s involvement with our mission:

How did you first get involved with The Restoration Team:

I attended a Second Saturday Serve Day with my wife and got a firsthand experience with the program and the staff. I could see that the Lord was working here and felt drawn to get more involved.

Do you have a favorite project/client/experience that you remember while serving with The Restoration Team:

I enjoy the light-hearted banter amongst the volunteers on the worksite. No one takes themselves too seriously and are always willing to drop what they are doing and lend a hand to help a teammate.

What does this ministry mean to you? Why do you keep coming back to serve?

In my prior working career, the project teams that I enjoyed the most were the ones staffed by co-workers who were passionate about the subject matter and committed to delivering quality products. Given a choice between working with folks who were experienced but uninterested vs. less experienced staff who were driven, I always chose the latter. The TRT staff and volunteers have the benefits of both - they are all talented and incredibly devoted to quality work and to each other. It’s been very rewarding to assist them.

What would you tell someone looking to get involved with our ministry?

Give it a try - I was concerned about my lack of experience and dearth of skills, but the team has found a way to use me that hopefully benefits the project and has definitely been fulfilling for me.

Thank you, Dave for your spirit and willingness to serve our clients. You are a big help and have touched so many lives.
