#TRT100k Volunteer Spotlight: Lo

To celebrate reaching 100,000 volunteer hours, this week we will be highlighting some of the key volunteers that have helped us achieve this milestone. Today we would like to highlight Lo - a longtime supporter on and off the worksite that we are so grateful for. Lo has organized multiple corporate volunteer days with her office - it beats sitting behind a desk!

A little about Lo’s involvement with our mission:

How did you first get involved with The Restoration Team:

I first got involved by volunteering through my church, Chapelwood UMC.

Do you have a favorite project/client/experience that you remember while serving with The Restoration Team:

Working with TRT for team building community service projects with colleagues.

What does this ministry mean to you? Why do you keep coming back to serve?

A home should be a safe place to make memories with family and friends, not something that brings you fear and anxiety. Our homes are meant to be shared with others and they are a gift from God and I truly believe that! It’s that belief that fires me up about what TRT is doing. It’s giving people safety, security, and a chance to experience God’s goodness and grace firsthand. Without TRT, a lot of the people being served would still be struggling. TRT is God’s construction crew.

What would you tell someone looking to get involved with our ministry?

You will work harder than you normally do, or at least for me. You’ll sweat, you’ll feel inadequate and you’ll LOVE EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT knowing you helped give someone what most of us take for granted - a safe home. It humbles you in the most beautiful way. Do it, you’ll get hooked.

Thank you, Lo for your generous support over the years. We are so lucky that you are part of the TRT family!
